LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers believes it’s “only a matter of time” before an NBA team is in Las Vegas, and he wants to be a part of it.
Speaking to the press on Monday, James was asked about this stated desire to be an owner of an NBA team in Vegas.
According to video from Jovan Buha, he gave a clear answer.
“Obviously, you have the Raiders here. You have the Knights here. You have the Aces here. You got F1 coming very soon. All-Star weekend has been there a few times. We have NBA Summer League that’s very popular,” James said.
He added: “You don’t have to worry about getting fan support or nothing like that. I think it’s only right. I think it’s only a matter of time.”

It’ll be some time before James even has the chance to own a team in Vegas but he obviously really wants to make this happen.
The chances of the league expanding within the next few years are very big.
Most people agree that it’s not a matter of if but when.
Las Vegas is one of the possible cities that could find a new basketball franchise and if it is, James is going to go all-in on securing a position as owner.
This would be after James retires from the game, of course, as he can’t own or co-own a team while he is still in the league.
If he did become an owner, he would possibly attract a lot of talent.
There are numerous stars who would be attracted to the thought of playing under James.
However, just because James is a terrific, one-of-a-kind basketball mastermind doesn’t mean his team will find success.
After all, Michael Jordan co-owned the Charlotte Hornets for years and that team struggled a lot during his tenure.
