LeBron James is already known as one of the best players in NBA history.
While his previous accolades proceed him, James is far from done.
He’ll turn 40 in December and is still playing at a high level.
James was a key cog in Team USA’s gold medal win in basketball this past summer and also looks to be the cornerstone of the Los Angeles Lakers this year.
With that in mind, James is confident in himself and his abilities and knows his legacy is already cemented.
He made this very clear in a recent press conference shared by Spectrum SportsNet on X.
“Is there anything else for me to accomplish as a basketball player? No… Everything else is extra credit,” James said.

James understands that, if he walked from the NBA tomorrow, he would still be a legend.
Nobody expects an almost 40-year-old to compete at a high level, or even compete at all.
But, since his son is on the team and considering he’s chasing another ring, it’s hard to argue with James’ logic.
He wants to keep playing, and even if this year is a bust from a championship perspective, he got to stave off Father Time for at least one more year.
James will retire eventually, which will leave a massive hole in the NBA.
Young fans have grown up with James around the sport for their entire lives, and it will be a strange day when the long-time icon is no longer on the court every day.
