Over the past few years, for one reason or another, primarily injuries, superstars LeBron James and Kevin Durant haven’t been able to go head-to-head on the basketball court, which has been a shame and something sorely missed by avid basketball fans.
Fortunately, earlier this week, these two future Hall of Famers were finally able to get a chance to play against each other once again in a regular-season game between the Phoenix Suns and Los Angeles Lakers.
The game turned out to be a thriller, with the Suns in control for most of the contest with Durant putting on a show until James took over in the fourth quarter and was able to lead his Lakers to victory in the team’s home opener at Crypto.com Arena.
After the game, James was asked what it was like to play against Durant again after so much time, and he admitted that the matchups between them can’t be taken for granted because there are not many left, via HoopsHype.
LeBron James on playing against Kevin Durant: "We don't have many matchups left. Not sure how many we have left, so you don't ever want to take it for granted when you're out there with such a great player, one of the best to ever play this game. It's always a treat. It's fun." pic.twitter.com/GFaJnWyf5W

James is right in his assessment that there won’t be many of these head-to-head matchups left, even though the Lakers and Suns share the same division because you never know what can happen with players at an advanced age like the both of them.
Durant turned 35 last month, while James is headed toward 39 in December, which means these matchups may only last another couple of years at most.
Neither player has given an exact timetable for the end of their playing careers, as it seems as though they want to play as long as they possibly can, which bodes well for basketball fans.
