For years now, people have wondered just how much longer LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers will play in the NBA.
At 38 years old, he is doing things that no one has before and is consistently impressing fans with his output.
When asked about why and how he keeps playing like he does, James gave some insight into his motivation.
According to Dave McMenamin, via Legion Hoops, James said that he’s “just trying to push the limit, see how far I can take this thing. I don’t know. I mean, it’s me versus Father Time.”

It’s been James versus Father Time for a few years now and James seems to have the upper hand.
He is just weeks away from his 39th birthday, but the four-time champion is still averaging 26.4 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 6.5 assists.
And he’s playing a lot of basketball too, on the floor for nearly 35 minutes a night.
He is definitely pushing himself to limits that no other NBA star has and remains the most important part of the Lakers lineup.
It has gotten to the point where some people are starting to wonder if James will be playing the game into his forties.
He is the oldest NBA player currently in the game and he may be showing some signs of slowing down, but not many.
There will come a time when, eventually, Father Time wins and James has to hang up his jersey.
But few people expected him to be performing like this at 38 years old so that time might not be soon.
Whatever he is doing to remain so healthy and strong, James needs to keep it up because his Lakers still need him and the fans still love him.
No one wants Father Time to get in the way of what James is accomplishing.
