Long before his passing, Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant advocated for the WNBA to get more attention.
The Black Mamba was a major endorser of women’s hoops.
Fortunately, that trend has been ongoing even after his passing, with more and more NBA superstars shouting out WNBA players and trying to get them the recognition they’re due.
That includes LeBron James, who recently shouted out Las Vegas Aces’ A’ja Wilson, who tied the league’s scoring record with a 53-performance while wearing LeBron 20s.
James jokingly claimed that it must’ve been the sneakers but quickly added that it was all about her and her great game.
Must be the 👟!!! Nah it’s definitely her game the whole way!! They do look good on her though! GO THE HELL OFF THEN SIS!!!!! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 @_ajawilson22 https://t.co/IA7UdXAVIW

Wilson is perhaps the hottest scorer in the WNBA right now, as this game comes just 11 days after she had set a then-career high with 40 points.
She put her team on her shoulders for a 112-110 road win vs. the Atlanta Dream, tying Liz Cambage’s record from 2018 when she was playing for the Dallas Wings.
Wilson joined a very exclusive club.
The only other WNBA player besides her and Cambage to top the 50-point plateau in the WNBA is Riquna Williams, who scored 51 for the Tulsa Shock back in 2013.
Wilson put on a scoring clinic, going 16 for 23 from the floor and 20 for 21 from the charity stripe, becoming the second WNBA player to shoot at least 20 free throws, and she was just one freebie shy of Cynthia Cooper’s record (22) set in 1998.
