The hits keep on coming for the St. Louis Cardinals, who remain at the bottom of the NL Central after an 8-0 drubbing at the hands of the Oakland Athletics on Wednesday.
Both Tommy Edman and Lars Nootbaar had to exit the game after fouling pitches off of themselves.
Nootbaar’s injury appeared to be a little more painful.
The star outfielder went down and stayed there for a few moments before getting back up and remaining in the game.
He was ultimately pulled however with what was described as a “lower abdomen contusion.”
On Twitter, the page for the MLB podcast “Talkin’ Baseball” posted a video of the moment Nootbaar went down.

The pitch that Nootbaar hit foul bounced into the dirt and came back up and hit him in the crotch, causing him to fall to the ground in immense pain.
Nootbaar rallied and initially remained in the game, but couldn’t finish it out as he was pulled in the top of the sixth inning.
This was certainly a scary moment for Nootbaar, and every Cardinals fan inside Busch Stadium was left holding their breath as their star center fielder writhed in pain.
It is unknown at the moment whether or not Nootbaar will need a stint on the injured list.
The Cardinals star has already been on the IL twice this season, and a third stint would be a major hit for the team.
St. Louis fell to 54-67 on the season with their latest crushing loss, remaining 8.5 games back in the Wild Card race.
