It was clear early last season that the Washington Commanders struck gold with the second overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, as rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels proved to be a star right out of the gate and was able to lead the Commanders on a magical run all the way to the NFC Championship game for the first time in three decades.
Now, expectations are heightened, and the pressure is on the front office, which made an aggressive move this offseason to ensure the pressure won’t be on Daniels by trading for star left tackle Laremy Tunsil of the Houston Texans.
Tunsil recently sent a clear message about his new quarterback to let everyone know he has his back, even before the regular season gets underway.
“He’s a dawg, I don’t know why ya’ll keep asking Jayden… I don’t know what more ya’ll want to see, wanna hear, he got it, he really got it… There’s no blowing smoke up his a**, like he really got it.”

Anyone who watched the Commanders last season could tell that Daniels had “it,” but it never hurts to have your left tackle loudly singing your praises anyway.
Washington has had a bit of a tumultuous past few weeks due to star receiver Terry McLaurin’s holdout situation, combined with the surprising trade of starting running back Brian Robinson to the San Francisco 49ers.
The two subplots raised question marks about what is going on behind the scenes in Washington, but Tunsil made it clear that all is well and everyone in the facility is all in behind Daniels.
