There isn’t much reason to be joyful if you’re a part of the Los Angeles Lakers.
For weeks now, it’s become more and more obvious that the team’s chances of making it into the postseason are slim.
On Tuesday night, their worst nightmare was realized when they were defeated by the Dallas Mavericks and were officially taken out of contention for the play-in tournament.
Even the team’s social media team was down in the dumps about everything.
The Lakers only tweeted four times during tonight’s game and they were all score updates pic.twitter.com/UDUs03zHOX

The team’s official Twitter account only tweeted four times during the team’s game against the Mavs.
And the few tweets were only score updates.
In a few weeks, the team’s Twitter account may not be able to tweet score updates because the Lakers might not be playing anymore.
Losing Lakers
At this point, fans of the Lakers should get comfortable with the idea of LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and the rest of the Lakers squad having an extra-long summer vacation.
They need to play exceedingly well in their last few games in order to reclaim the 10th seed and have a chance at making the postseason.
However, is that possible with both James and Davis injured?
There is a chance that both of those players will return but that doesn’t ensure the team will win.
Even the most pessimistic fan of Los Angeles didn’t expect the team to be doing this poorly at this point in the season.
Obviously, this lineup isn’t working out and some major tweaks need to be made in the offseason.
The team should consider every option, including trading Russell Westbrook and even Davis, to ensure that nothing like the 2021-22 season ever happens again.
