Once the 2023-24 NBA season officially comes to an end this summer, basketball won’t stop for a select few of NBA stars who will have the privilege to represent their country on Team USA’s roster for head coach Steve Kerr during the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France.
With Team USA falling short recently on the international stage and other countries starting to catch up and surpass the Americans, this summer will be important for Kerr and company, as everyone will be watching to see if the United States can regain control as the elite country when it comes to the sport of basketball.
On Tuesday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reported a list of finalists for the 12-player roster for Team USA’s squad, with three of those players currently on the Los Angeles Lakers roster, via Jovan Buha of The Athletic.

Although there’s a lot of talent on this list of NBA stars, it’s almost guaranteed that LeBron James and Anthony Davis will make the final cut, with Austin Reaves likely being one of the many players sent home.
Of the other star players on this list, Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Kawhi Leonard, Damian Lillard, Jayson Tatum, and Jimmy Butler might also be locks as well to make the final cut.
It’ll be interesting to see what decisions are made by Kerr and his coaching staff as they try to get this list down to 12, as there will almost certainly be some difficult cuts to make, which could cause some debate over whether the right decisions were made.
