Recently, a classic group of veterans from the Los Angeles Lakers met up for some good times, celebrations, and on-court fun in Hawaii.
Led by Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, this legendary Showtime lineup took a few pictures too.
That was great because it allowed the rest of the world to see this one-of-a-kind reunion.

One image from the get-together is receiving a lot of attention: that of Abdul-Jabbar doing his world-famous skyhook shot.
Back in the day, there was seemingly no one who could stop this shot and, even all these years later, it’s great to see one of the best players of all time perform his signature move.
There hasn’t been anyone truly like Abdul-Jabbar since he left the league.
One-Of-A-Kind Kareem
The accolades that he received during his career show how special the “Big Fella” was.
He is a Hall of Famer, of course.
But he was also a 19-time All-Star, 2-time scoring champion, 4-time block champion, and 2-time Finals MVP.
Abdul-Jabbar also racked up six MVP trophies and was Rookie of the Year.
The skyhook shot he created was fun to watch and apparently incredibly hard to defend, as he was able to get past just about anyone with it.
You don’t see the shot attempted much in the modern NBA era, mostly because it is so hard to pull off.
But back in the 1970s and 80s, he was doing it all of the time and it helped lead his two teams, the Milwaukee Bucks and Los Angeles Lakers, to greatness.
Abdul-Jabbar is now 75 years old so he probably isn’t able to make the buckets that he used to but seeing him even attempt the skyhook all these years later is heartwarming and special.
It’s also a great reminder of just how talented and spectacular a player he was.
