Dallas Mavericks fans want Kyrie Irving back as soon as possible, but they may not get their wish.
Irving’s recovery from his serious knee injury is going to take a long time, and there is a chance he sits out for all of 2025-26.
In fact, Irving has admitted he has no idea when he’ll be back on the court.
“There’s no timetable for when I’m coming back,” Irving said.

Mavericks fans certainly aren’t elated by this news, but they aren’t shocked either.
When Irving went down last year, it was immediately clear that his injury was severe, and most people expected him to be out for the entire season.
Still, there was some hope that he’d have a miraculous turnaround and could make an impact in the upcoming season.
But the biggest mistake Irving could make right now is to rush his rehabilitation.
If he pushes himself too fast, it’ll only make matters worse, and Irving could end his career early.
The Mavericks planned to be without Irving, and they have made adjustments to address his absence.
The signing of D’Angelo Russell should help them, but they will need other players to step up, too.
The Mavericks have a lot to look forward to in 2025-25, namely the arrival of rookie phenom Cooper Flagg.
However, they know they won’t be at 100 percent until Irving is back, and they just have to wait and be patient until then.
Irving is being honest about where he’s at and the road ahead.
Right now, everything is uncertain, and the Mavericks just have to accept that.
