The Dallas Mavericks team headed to the NBA Finals is a relatively young team full of players who have never been to the championship series before.
But one of their best players — Kyrie Irving — has been there before, and that will be a major advantage for him.
He said that the younger players should enjoy every moment while staying focused, per Joey Mistretta.

Irving started his NBA career with the Cleveland Cavaliers during the 2011-12 season, and once LeBron James returned to the team three seasons later, it headed to the Finals to take on Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors.
That would be the matchup there for four straight years, and Irving would be a part of the first three, with the Cavs winning it all in 2016 after trailing 3-1 in that series.
He etched his name in the history books by hitting the game-winning 3-pointer with about a minute left in Game 7, and it seemed to complete a coming-out party for him where he went from a star to a borderline superstar.
These Mavericks seem very capable of upsetting the strongly favored Boston Celtics in this year’s championship series, not just because of the clutch exploits of Irving and Luka Doncic, but also because of a couple of midseason acquisitions.
Forwards P.J. Washington and Daniel Gafford arrived in two separate trades in February, and they have both given Dallas some much-needed length, rebounding, and occasional scoring.
Don’t be too surprised if Dallas is left holding the Larry O’Brien Trophy later this month.
