On Sunday afternoon, Kyrie Irving of the Dallas Mavericks had the NBA world talking with an unbelievable buzzer-beater that helped his team get a crucial victory over the Denver Nuggets.
Once again, it was Irving and Luka Doncic who led the Mavericks and after the game, the guard spoke about their relationship.
“Looks good, right? Now that we have a sample size, everybody could judge off of it instead of like every other game. It feels good to play those amount of consistent games and get a feel for one another and really show what we’ve been working on in practice, too,” Irving told Grant Afseth.
He also spoke about the way that Doncic and he work together all the time, including during practices:
“You guys don’t get a chance to see all our practices, and it’s me and Luka playing against our second five, but we have great chemistry. When we have guys making shots alongside us, it makes the game a lot easier.”

When Irving joined the Mavericks last year, there was an intense amount of speculation and caution about him playing with Doncic.
They are players who demand the ball a lot of the time and could make each other’s skills seem redundant.
At the end of last season, the Mavericks weren’t able to reach the playoffs even with both Doncic and Irving putting up strong numbers.
This year, things have looked different.
The duo continues to work very well together and has created more chemistry on the court.
They seem to like one another and enjoy playing together, which is evident during games.
It’s no surprise to see the Mavericks looking better this season now that Doncic and Irving are on the same wavelength.
The sample size is a lot bigger in 2023-24 and the results of the Doncic-Irving experiment are a lot better.
