Throughout his career, Kyrie Irving of the Dallas Mavericks has worn two numbers on his jerseys: 2 and 11.
Since playing for the Mavs, he has been No. 2 again but that all changes when 2023-24 kicks off.
A video shared by the Mavericks and then retweeted by Irving himself shows his new jersey with the No. 11 on the back.

Irving fans aren’t a bit surprised to see him brandishing No. 11 again.
It’s a very special number for the guard.
K is the 11th letter of the alphabet and there are 11 letters in his full name.
Plus, he was picked at number one in the 2011 draft and played 11 games for the Duke Blue Devils.
Additionally, according to Irving, he was born at 1:11.
He started his career with the No. 2 on his back when playing for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
But he switched to 11 when he moved to the Boston Celtics and then the Brooklyn Nets.
Now that they know what number he’ll wear, fans of the Mavericks are wondering what he’ll do for the team in the new season.
He played in 20 games for Dallas last season after his trade and was doing very well.
His 27 points, 5 rebounds, and 6 assists a game are the exact sort of numbers that people were hoping for.
Yet, the team wasn’t able to capitalize on the pairing of Irving and Luka Doncic and they couldn’t even reach the playoffs.
So it’s clear that the team needs to make some tweaks.
No matter what changes they commit to, the Mavericks will definitely be using a lot of Irving in 2023-24.
