Kyrie Irving of the Dallas Mavericks has found plenty of success with Team USA over the years.
He has earned gold medals in both the 2016 Olympics and the 2014 World Cup.
He is very happy with that success but he also wishes he could have done something else during his career: play for another national team.
According to BasketNews, Irving admitted that he wishes he could have played for Team Australia.
“I wanted to play for Australia, but it just didn’t happen,” Irving said.

Irving was actually born in Melbourne, Australia to a pair of expatriate parents.
He moved back to the United States when he was just two years old.
It’s not clear why Irving’s plans for Team Australia didn’t work out.
Perhaps the team was very strict about choosing talent that was only born and raised in the nation.
Either way, Irving did very well when playing for Team USA, although he is sitting out from the World Cup this year and hasn’t made any revelations about his plans for next year’s Olympics.
Irving has been very open about a lot of things on his Twitch stream lately.
This is just the latest bit of information that fans have been privy to during Irving’s hours-long streams.
In about a month or so, these streams could become less frequent as training camp approaches and Irving begins to focus more on the upcoming season.
However, he will likely give a lot of commentary about the World Cup on his stream over the next several weeks.
Will he reveal anything else about career ambitions and where he wants to play?
