One of the major concerns for the San Francisco 49ers with training camp right around the corner is what the status of the quarterback situation is moving forward.
Over the past few weeks, there have been promising signs that second-year quarterback Brock Purdy will be healthy and under center in Week 1 on the road against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
In the meantime, however, Purdy hasn’t been taking reps on the field, with Sam Darnold and Trey Lance sharing snaps at QB1 during minicamp, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan via 49ers on NBCS.

It seems that one thing is clear moving forward; the team isn’t completely sold on Lance as the starter if Purdy is unable to be ready for Week 1, as Darnold has either made an impression or Shanahan feels more comfortable with a veteran in that spot.
The quarterback situation in San Francisco will continue to be the most significant area of concern and the most talked-about topic in the Bay Area until Purdy is officially healthy and ready to go.
Shanahan has made his thoughts clear about Purdy, as he views him as the team’s starter moving forward, but the real intrigue is the lack of faith or progress from Lance and if a trade might be on the horizon.
49ers general manager John Lynch hasn’t ruled out the possibility of Lance getting traded and may want to showcase him in the preseason to increase his value, which is arguably at the lowest it’s been since he joined the team.
