The San Francisco 49ers enter the 2023 season as one of the favorites to come out of what looks like a weak NFC.
The 49ers made it all the way to the NFC Championship game before falling to the Philadelphia Eagles, though it was hard to say it was a fair match considering they saw their quarterbacks suffer injuries.
Brock Purdy went down early in the game due to an elbow injury and although he tried to come back in after backup Josh Johnson suffered a concussion, he was clearly compromised.
Purdy was a revelation down the second half of the season as he managed to take over the reins from Jimmy Garoppolo and hit the ground running.
Now, Purdy appears in line to be San Francisco’s starting quarterback for Week 1 where he will hope to build on his impressive rookie season.
Kyle Shanahan seems high on Purdy and praised him following their recent preseason game against the Denver Broncos via Carlos Nava of ESPN.

It was Purdy’s preseason debut and he had an efficient line completing 4-of-5 passes for 60 yards. He also added one carry for eight yards.
Shanahan and the coaching staff have to be pleased with Purdy’s lone drive of the game and should give him at least one more look in the team’s final preseason game.
Assuming Purdy is able to stay healthy, the 49ers should once again be considered a favorite in the NFC though that’s far from a given considering the bad injury luck the organization has had to endure the past few years.
