Last season, the San Francisco 49ers proved to be one of the best teams in the NFL once again, with the storied franchise making it to the NFC Championship Game.
Unfortunately, the 49ers fell short in that game to the Philadelphia Eagles, with starting quarterback Brock Purdy going down early in the contest.
Despite only being a rookie, Purdy far exceeded expectations after taking over for Trey Lance and Jimmy Garoppolo, who were injured earlier in the season.
Although Purdy made a name for himself in San Francisco, he couldn’t avoid the injury bug and now has an uncertain status moving forward, but there’s a glimmer of hope for the 49ers with head coach Kyle Shanahan saying the second-year quarterback could be ready for Week 1 via 49ers on NBCS.

Currently, the 49ers are moving forward with Purdy as their starting quarterback and Lance backing him up for the 2023 NFL season.
However, 49ers training camp could get interesting due to the recent signing of veteran quarterback Sam Darnold, who could compete with Lance for the starting job if Purdy isn’t ready for Week 1.
There’s been a lot of talk over the last few months about Lance potentially being on the trade market, with the team seemingly open to sending him packing if the right trade package becomes available between now and the start of next season.
Regardless of the Lance situation, the 49ers are happy about a positive update about Purdy’s status, as the upcoming season will likely depend on the health of their new star player under center.
