The San Francisco 49ers got Week 3 of the 2023 NFL season underway with yet another dominant performance, as Kyle Shanahan and company were able to get the best of the New York Giants, 30-12.
It was another well-rounded performance for the 49ers, with San Francisco imposing its will on both sides of the football.
Every offensive star for the 49ers played at a high level on Thursday at Levi’s Stadium, with Brock Purdy, Deebo Samuel, Christian McCaffrey, and George Kittle all having solid performances.
Samuel stole the show with 129 yards and a touchdown on six receptions but suffered a rib injury that led to some concern for the team on Friday.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Samuel didn’t suffer any broken ribs but is dealing with soreness, which will keep him day-to-day moving forward.
Tests today on 49ers’ WR Deebo Samuel’s ribs did not reveal any breaks, but he was, in the words of HC Kyle Shanahan, “pretty sore, so it'll be day-to-day.”

With a long week ahead for San Francisco after playing on Thursday night, Samuel has the opportunity to get more time to rest and get ready for Week 4, when the team plays host to the division-rival Arizona Cardinals.
Outside of Samuel’s rib issue, the 49ers are cruising right now and are making a case as the best team in the league, with the Dallas Cowboys potentially being the only real threat to the team’s distinction as the league’s elite squad.
In Week 5, the 49ers will host the Cowboys in what will be one of the most anticipated games of the season, with two great teams going head-to-head and the winner likely being dubbed the favorite to win it all moving forward.
