The Arizona Cardinals couldn’t get the job done in Week 11. Jacoby Brissett set an NFL record for the most completions in a single game, but it wasn’t enough to defeat the San Francisco 49ers.
Afterward, former Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner took to social media to tip his hat to their current QB.
“Today, I watched tape of [Jacoby Brissett] and it’s almost as impressive to watch someone play from behind most of game, throw 57 times and complete 83% of those throws!!! 47 completions, and he wasn’t just dinking and dunking the whole game, he was balling! I know how tough each can be, so just tipping my hat to the guys at highest level doing this stuff!” Warner wrote on X.

Taking over for injured starter Kyler Murray, Brissett isn’t a long-term solution for the Cardinals at this point in his career. He’s a good backup, a great one even, but a backup nonetheless.
Arizona has had to deal with several injuries this season, and there have always been doubts about Jonathan Gannon as head coach. So far, he has shown little to prove that he should be given more time in charge of the team.
The Cardinals finally look more than ready to turn the page and move on from Murray. Technically, that leaves the door open for Brissett to stay as the starter for at least another season, serving as a bridge quarterback and mentor as they find someone for the future.
Then again, judging by the roster and coaching situation, it seems like Murray isn’t going to be the only one on his way out this offseason. Brissett has another year left on his contract, and he could become a trade target for teams looking for a veteran stopgap.
