Kristaps Porzingis is in the midst of his first full season with the Washington Wizards.
When he was sent to the team from the Dallas Mavericks last season, some wondered if he’d ever reach the same heights he once did earlier in his career.
As the regular season inches closer to an end, it is clear that he can.
On Wednesday night, Porzingis led his team in a close, painful loss against the Atlanta Hawks.
He had a career-high 43 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists.
He also sank seven three-pointers and shot 77% from the field.
A career night for Kristaps Porzingis.

Porzingis looked terrific all night long.
It’s such a shame that his incredible night didn’t result in a win.
But great performances with frustrating losses are commonplace for the Wizards this season.
Porzingis is averaging 23.2 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 2.6 assists this season.
Additionally, his field goal percentage is better than it ever has been.
Alongside Kyle Kuzma and Bradley Beal, Porzingis is giving Wizards fans something to be excited about.
Yet the team is still struggling, sitting in tenth place in the East.
The good news is that their 31-35 record isn’t too far behind their closest competitors in the standings.
But the worrisome thing is that Kuzma, Beal, and especially Porzingis played wonderfully on Wednesday, and yet the team still came up short.
How will they be able to climb higher if they continue to lose even with impressive work by their biggest stars?
Porzingis had a great night and has had a fantastic season – but will it help his Wizards reach the playoffs?
