After playing in only four games during the NBA playoffs before going down with a calf strain, it appears that veteran forward Kristaps Porzingis might be able to return to the basketball floor for the Boston Celtics when they take on the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA Finals.
This will be the first time in Porzingis’ career that he will get a chance to play for an NBA title, with the veteran journeyman unable to get close to competing for the Larry O’Brien while with the New York Knicks, Mavericks and Washington Wizards earlier in his career.
Despite having a few failed stints before landing with the Celtics this past summer, Porzingis is relishing the opportunity to play on the biggest stage in the NBA and talked about the experience ahead of Game 1 on Thursday in Boston at TD Garden via the NBA’s Twitter account.
“It’s incredible, Porzingis said. “The energy… just seeing the amount of people now. It shows the magnitude of this and what’s on the line.”

Ironically enough, Porzingis playing against his former teammate Luka Doncic will be one of the main storylines coming into Game 1 on Thursday in Boston, as the two never saw eye-to-eye while playing alongside one another in Dallas.
There could be some bad blood there between Porzingis and Doncic in the same way Kyrie Irving will have to deal with the Celtics fans, who are not fond of the superstar guard for not living up to his promise to re-sign with the team a few years ago.
