The opening round series between the Boston Celtics and Orlando Magic has been quite physical, and Kristaps Porzingis is very happy about that.
On Wednesday night, Porzingis suffered a nasty blow to his forehead and began to bleed.
It was a wild moment that featured him heading to the locker room to get cleaned up before returning to shoot his free throws as the crowd loudly chanted his initials.
Following the game, he talked with ESPN about the injury, the response, and how he felt about it all.
“I love my WWE moments,” Porzingis said after producing 20 points and 10 rebounds to help the Celtics take a 2-0 lead in the Eastern Conference first-round series. “And then you know me. I always love engaging with the crowd. And I already knew, getting hit again, blood again — the crowd was going to go with it.”
Even though he had blood pouring from his forehead, Porzingis was all smiles.
He was enjoying the reaction from the crowd and how well he was playing.
Even with the gash on his forehead, Porzingis put up 20 points and 10 rebounds on the way to a 109-100 victory.
The Celtics are now 2-0 over the Magic and remain favorites to take this series.
There have been a few physical moments so far, and both teams are seemingly banged up, but they want to keep fighting hard.
Porzingis has a history of injuries, so fans were worried when he got hit on Wednesday.
But aside from the blood, he seemed totally fine and rather excited about getting hurt.
He was enjoying the moment to the fullest, and the crowd was loving it too.
