Josh Hart of the New York Knicks just secured a major payday.
On Wednesday, the Knicks announced that they had finalized a four-year, $81 million contract extension with Hart, who joined the team just months ago.
On Thursday, Knicks president Leon Rose explained the importance of Hart on the roster, via Ian Begley.
According to Rose, “Josh’s immediate impact on our team last season — both on and off the court — cannot be understated.”
He added that the “leadership and competitiveness Josh brings fit perfectly with the culture we are building.”

It is clear that the Knicks are very happy with what they are getting from Hart.
Since joining the team, he averaged 10.2 points and 7 rebounds.
He was also very helpful during their short playoff run with his 10.4 points on 47.9% from the floor.
But, as noted by Rose, Hart’s importance is about more than just the points he is scoring.
The Knicks are attempting to create a strong culture and Hart is a crucial part of that.
That’s not too surprising, because Hart has always been an inspiring and uplifting part of all the teams he’s been on.
From the Lakers to the Blazers and beyond, former teammates have always loved playing alongside him.
Although the postseason didn’t end as they had hoped, the Knicks has a pretty strong season.
With a 47-35 regular season record, they had one of their best runs in years.
The acquisition of Jalen Brunson last summer proved to be a brilliant one and the entire unit worked much better.
Hart only made them better when he joined and now fans are very ready to see what he can do with a full season.
