Bradley Beal’s final contract with the Washington Wizards will go down as one of the worst in the history of professional sports.
The Wizards gave up all control while also giving him absurd amounts of money, a recipe for predictable disaster that ended just how most people thought it would.
The Phoenix Suns got him for just a handful of second-round picks, potential pick swaps, Landry Shamet, and an aging Chris Paul.
That’s why New York Knicks forward Josh Hart was in disbelief at the fact that the Wizards couldn’t even get a first-round pick for his services.

Beal was in full control of his destiny.
He had a full no-trade clause which pretty much allowed him to handpick his new destination, also meaning he could choose what he was being traded for.
Naturally, he was never going to agree to a major haul that would imply putting his new team in a tough spot, as it would obviously hurt his chances of winning a championship.
That, plus his astronomically high salary and recent history of injuries, drove multiple teams away in negotiations.
However, we can’t ignore the fact that his agent Mark Bartelstein also happens to be the son of Josh Bartelstein, who is the current CEO of the Suns.
Beal didn’t do his former team any favors after they made him one of the wealthiest athletes in recent NBA history, but the Wizards at least got rid of that toxic contract before it got even worse.
