The Dallas Mavericks battled the Golden State Warriors on Sunday night, meaning Klay Thompson was back in the Bay Area to play against his former team.
While his first return to San Francisco was full of big emotions and anticipation, this time seemed more low-key for Thompson.
A video shared by 95.7 The Game on X featured Thompson speaking about what he did while visiting his old stomping grounds.
Thompson summed up his day off before his game against the Warriors:
“Went and drove by my old neighborhood. Went to my friend’s house in Oakland. Drove by Oracle. Drove by downtown Oakland… To see The City and The Town, it’s always special.”

It’s very clear that this part of the country still holds a special place in Thompson’s heart.
No matter where he goes and who he plays for, he will always fondly remember his time in the Bay Area and his historic years with the Warriors.
On Sunday night, his Mavericks took down the Warriors.
Thompson scores 29 points, five rebounds, and four assists during the 143-133 win.
He was 9-of-14 from the field and 7-of-11 from beyond the three-point line.
Those numbers bring his season average to 14.0 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.8 assists on 40.8 percent from the field and 39.1 percent from the three-point line.
Although his averages aren’t what they used to be during his prime time with the Warriors, Thompson generally looks like a good fit for the Mavericks.
The team has climbed up to the fourth seed in the West with a 17-9 record.
This won’t be the last time Thompson comes to San Francisco to take on the Warriors, so it’s nice to see how much he enjoys returning.
