Klay Thompson is saying what every Golden State Warriors fan knows: his recent playoff series against the Los Angeles Lakers was “tough.”
Thompson appeared on the “Podcast P” show with Paul George and took blame while also giving praise.
“I obviously didn’t shoot the ball as well as I wanted to,” Thompson said about the Western Conference semifinals between his Warriors and the Lakers.
He went on: “I shot it terribly. It’s tough when Anthony Davis is down there at the rim. That man is like elastic. He can just affect so many shots. LeBron is still doing his thing.”
“So I give the Lakers credit, they played very well,” Thompson concluded.
However, he did say that he and his teammates were “hungry” right now and certain that they have at least another championship win in them.
Thompson scored 21.9 points on 43.6% from the field and 41.2% from the three-point line during the regular season.
But he started to experience rough patches during the playoffs, especially during the series against the Lakers.
Then, Thompson was good for 16.2 points a game with a 34.3% field goal percentage.
His three-point ability suffered too: 38.1%.
He was very inconsistent when going against the Lakers and had multiple games when he only scored single digits.
“Game 6 Klay” was nowhere to be found.
Sadly, Thompson was just one of multiple Warriors players who couldn’t get around the Lakers and that led to their ultimate demise.
Thompson acknowledges that he could have done better and that’s a big part of not repeating the past.
In the video clip above, he tells George that he and his teammates are trying to put together some training camps for the summer before they get back together in the fall.
Thompson has had his ups and downs since returning from his very long absence just last season.
Will this be the season when he finally looks like his old self from beginning to end?
