The Golden State Warriors groomed the core of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green over the years.
The trio is together for at least one more season, but they may break up as Klay Thompson is on his last year of the five-year, $189.9 million contract he signed in 2019.
Thompson will be earning more than $40 million this season and will do his best to earn another lucrative contract from the Dubs.
However, at 33 years old, Thompson is regressing and is no longer the same player he once was.
Thompson is seemingly aware of his decline and shared his mentality heading into the 2023-24 season via 95.7 The Game on Twitter.
“I’m going to savor this as much as I can,” Thompson said.
Will Klay Thompson savor this season?
“Oh yeah, you never know what’s going to happen. I’m going to savor this as much as I can. Especially in this uniform. I was here before it was sweet… it’s not always been like this. I’m going to savor the heck out of it.” pic.twitter.com/ujkRgGAzxg

Thompson started off the new season with 15 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists in a 108-104 defeat against the Phoenix Suns.
While Klay’s numbers may not look bad, he had a terrible shooting night.
Thompson shot 6-18 from the field and 3-11 from downtown.
The Warriors veteran was once regarded as one of the most consistent shooters in the NBA, but he has struggled to find his form throughout the preseason.
It feels like Klay’s poor form has carried over to the regular season.
The 5x NBA All-Star may be trying too hard to play good considering it’s his contract year.
But if he doesn’t improve over the course of the regular season, Thompson may not be offered a max contract by the Warriors and the worst-case scenario would be to let him go.
