Klay Thompson has only played for one NBA team since he entered the league.
He’s one of the main people responsible for the Golden State Warriors’ success, and even though he could’ve been an undisputed No. 1 scoring option on any other team in his prime, he often agreed to take a lesser role to stay in the Bay Area.
Notably, he may not take the same approach when it comes to the national team.
Thompson has already played for Team USA and has even brought back the gold, but now, he’s reportedly giving it some serious thought to play for The Bahamas.
In a clip shared by JK Carandang (via GMA News), the star shooting guard talks about potentially joining the likes of fellow NBA players Kai Jones, Deandre Ayton, Eric Gordon, and Buddy Hield, who recently led The Bahamas to an Olympic berth.

Thompson talked about how much it would mean to his father, Mychal Thompson, who was born in there and later starred with the Los Angeles Lakers.
It’s also worth noting that his brother, Mychel Thompson, is actually an assistant coach for the national team, so the ties are obvious there.
Notably, FIBA basketball allows players to switch national teams as long as it’s for the betterment of the game and their new team is a developing program, which is why Eric Gordon was able to play for the Bahamas after already playing for the U.S.
Don’t look now, but that Bahamas squad could be stacked next year.
