The Denver Nuggets are officially the reigning NBA champions, and all the chatter dissing Nikola Jokic has been finally put to rest.
At least, that’s what one would think after watching him make history and dominate throughout the course of the season, the playoffs, and the NBA Finals, but it seems like some people still aren’t ready to give him his flowers.
That includes former NFL star Keyshawn Johnson, who recently went on the record calling Jokic a “potato,” citing that he’s “too bland” and that you need to put some dressing on it.

With all due respect to Johnson, that’s perhaps the worst analogy one could think of when talking about Jokic.
Yes, Jokic isn’t athletic, and he can’t jump one inch off the floor, but he’s got the whole offensive package.
He can shoot, pass, post-up, pull-up, put the ball on the floor, and does way more things than those more “savory” players could even dream of.
Jokic doesn’t look like the kind of player who can control the pace of the game and give some athletic big men business, but he’s made a living out of taking them to school night in and night out, and there’s nothing soft, bland, boring, or even predictable about his game.
Watching Jokic play has become must-watch television, even for non-hoops fans, and he’s one of the finest entertainers in the league right now.
European players never seem to get the respect they deserve, but if he’s a potato, then he might as well be the greatest potato of all time.
