The Dallas Cowboys are looking for a new head coach after parting ways with Mike McCarthy a few days ago, and this is a hire they must get right if they are to have any hope of becoming very competitive again very soon.
There has been a lot of buzz about Deion Sanders, the Hall of Fame cornerback who once played for the Cowboys, possibly getting the job, and they’re set to interview Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore for the gig.
While some feel Moore, who was the Cowboys’ offensive coordinator from 2019 to 2022, could be a solid, if not an excellent, choice, former star wide receiver Keyshawn Johnson said on Fox Sports 1’s “Speak” that he simply wouldn’t cut it.

Johnson feels Moore wouldn’t be able to command respect from Dallas’ players in the locker room, and he added that this is a situation that calls for an experienced head coach.
Dallas has star power but is top-heavy, yet they always seem to consider themselves a Super Bowl contender, and they’re therefore the type of team that likely wouldn’t do well with a first-team NFL head coach.
This proud franchise boasts five Vince Lombardi Trophies, but it hasn’t won the Super Bowl championship or even gotten to the NFC Championship Game since the 1995 season, when Sanders was locking up opposing wide receivers in its secondary.
Other than hiring the right head coach, it needs to find a way to fill out its roster in between its big names, and that won’t be easy given their unenviable salary cap situation.
