The New Orleans Pelicans have suffered their fair share of injuries over the last few years.
Fans were hoping that this upcoming season would be free of them.
But just weeks before 2023-24 begins, one of the team’s key players is out.
Shams Charania is reporting that Pelicans guard Jose Alvarado suffered an ankle sprain during a workout over the weekend.
His availability for the upcoming training camp is now in question, according to Charania.

Last season, the 25-year-old guard averaged 9 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 3 assists on 41.1% from the floor.
While he only started in ten games for the Pels, he was an important part of their lineup and infused the roster with youth, energy, and drive.
He has become a fan favorite over the last few years and is also known for his crafty stealing skills (he averaged 1.1 steals a game last season).
There is still a chance that Alvarado will recover from his ankle mishap and be ready to play when training camp – and the new season – begins.
But there is also a chance that the Pelicans are going to be missing him when the first games roll around.
Sadly, losing players due to injuries isn’t new to the Pelicans.
Over the last few seasons, several of the players on the team have missed games because of them.
Zion Williamson has missed the most and that has dearly hurt the team.
However, he is reportedly ready to go for the new season and is healthy right now.
His addition to New Orleans will help them a lot.
But if Alvarado is gone, the Pelicans will have another hole to fill in their lineup.
