The Dallas Cowboys have to be upset with how the 2024 NFL season has played out, as injuries and inconsistent play on both sides of the ball ruined their chances of competing in a stacked NFC.
The Cowboys entered the season as a playoff hopeful, but they were dealt horrible injury luck as several key players have been sidelined, with some slated to miss the remainder of the year.
The most consequential injury was to quarterback Dak Prescott, who needed hamstring surgery, though the defense also lost some high-impact starters.
Heading into their Week 15 matchup against the Carolina Panthers, Dallas remains banged up, and it’s clear based on the injury report it could be shorthanded again.
“Cowboys CB Trevon Diggs (knee) will not be traveling with the team today to Charlotte and has been downgraded to out for tomorrow,” Jon Machota of The Athletic wrote on X.

Diggs was considered questionable during the week, so this depletes the defense even more.
This comes at a bad time as Carolina’s passing game has experienced a renaissance in the past few weeks, coinciding with Bryce Young’s improvement as a starter.
The Panthers also have struggled this year but have shown signs of life in recent weeks as they’ve pushed notable teams to the brink of upsets.
Dallas will have its work cut out going up against a scrappy Carolina squad on the road.
