Anthony Edwards of the Minnesota Timberwolves is one of the NBA’s rising stars, and he has been a standout for Team USA as it gets ready for the FIBA World Cup.
He has had a couple of big exhibition games for the Americans, and some feel he is ready to take the next step and become a bona fide superstar.
Hall of Famer Kevin Garnett is one of those people, and he said Edwards looks different than he did this past season, not to mention very motivated, via Twitter.
Let me clarify what I said yesterday for the ones that didn’t hear me. @theantedwards_ about to be in that conversation for the top dog! He looking DIFFERENT, am I trippin? pic.twitter.com/454SvaCNjy

Edwards, the No. 1 pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, averaged 24.6 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 4.4 assists a game this past season, and in Minnesota’s five-game first-round playoff loss to the Denver Nuggets, he put up 31.6 points per contest.
He is also emerging as a fine defender, as he claimed 1.6 steals a game during the 2022-23 campaign and got some consideration for the All-Defensive teams.
The Georgia native is one of the more brash players in the league, and he said just months ago that he thinks he’s the best player in basketball.
The Timberwolves seem to be stuck in mediocrity, especially after giving up a boatload of draft picks and complementary players for Rudy Gobert, and if they are to get out of that situation, Edwards will have to live up to the hype he has created for himself.
But between his athleticism, motivation, and extreme confidence, perhaps it is only a matter of time before he truly ascends the ladder of the best players in the NBA.
