Just days ago, Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers was named the 2022-23 NBA MVP.
His selection wasn’t a surprise, as he has had an incredible season and led his team to the NBA playoffs.
In the last few days, Embiid has received praise from all over, including players past and present.
NBA legend Kevin Garnett recently had a few words to share with Embiid on his show.
After congratulating the MVP, he asked Embiid a question.
“Now comes the fun part of consistency. Can you back this season up?” Garnett asked.
He added: “Everybody has been praising you for this full season…Now comes the question of can you be consistent throughout?”

When it comes to the numbers, Embiid had a season that will be hard to top.
He averaged 33.1 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 4.2 assists on 54.8% from the floor.
It’s unlikely that he will be able to consistently do that every single year.
But consistency doesn’t mean he has to outscore his MVP season.
Instead, he just needs to keep being the team leader and dominant player he has been, on both ends of the court.
He also needs to remain healthy.
Wednesday night’s loss against the Celtics was a reminder that Embiid often needs a bit of time to get back into the swing of things after an injury.
That is why he must strive to be consistently healthy in the days, weeks, months, and years ahead.
He has now entered a very exclusive club, one he has come close to multiple times.
