NFL free agency is officially here, and if the rest of the offseason is as crazy as Day 1 of legal tampering, fans are in for a real treat.
Several elite players switched teams yesterday, including Austin Ekeler, who signed with the Washington Commanders.
Teams around the league were active in the running back market, which hasn’t been the case over the past several years.
Some fans have speculated that this is because teams do not like what they see from the upcoming rookie class of running backs.
Regardless of the rationale, everyone was talking about these running back moves, including Kevin Durant, who voiced his excitement about the Ekeler deal on Twitter.
Durant is a noted Commanders fan who is frequently spotted at games, practices, and other offseason activities.

He believes that Ekeler will be an excellent fit for a team trying to get back on track.
The Commanders have struggled to gain traction over the past several seasons.
There has been optimism surrounding them at times, but they have been unable to realize their potential.
With the addition of Ekeler paired with what is expected to be a new quarterback, the Commanders could find their way back to relevancy in 2024.
The Commanders currently have the No. 2 overall pick in the NFL Draft, and with the number of talented prospects on the board, they could find themselves a new starter in a matter of weeks.
After their inner turmoil and their on-field struggles, it’s time for the Commanders to get back on their feet.
