On Monday night, eight of the best sluggers in Major League Baseball gathered for a unique and fun competition in the Home Run Derby.
The winner of the derby was ultimately Vladimir Guerrero Jr., who edged out Randy Arozarena in the final round.
But Seattle Mariners star Julio Rodriguez certainly had an impressive showing.
In the first round, the reigning American League Rookie of the Year crushed 41 home runs, which was more than enough to eliminate New York Mets slugger and two-time derby champion Pete Alonso.
Rodriguez’s showing permeated throughout the world of sports, and on Twitter, NBA star Kevin Durant expressed how amazing the slugger’s performance was.

Rodriguez’s 41 homers broke Guerrero’s record of 40 in one round from 2019.
But the impressive showing wasn’t limited to just the baseball world.
Even Durant caught wind of this performance and was duly impressed by what the reigning Rookie of the Year was able to accomplish.
Durant himself is no stranger to impressive performances, though not in the same sport.
Still, Rodriguez’s performance made the rounds on Monday night, and what he was able to accomplish was nothing short of impressive.
It was enough to take him to the second round, where he would match up with the man whose record he had broken.
Rodriguez ultimately fell short against the Toronto Blue Jays slugger, who went on to win the derby.
But that didn’t take away from just how special his performance was, and Durant was certainly amazed by what he saw from the Mariners slugger in this year’s derby.
