Kevin Durant of the Phoenix Suns has opinions about many aspects of the NBA and he isn’t afraid to share them.
In the past, he has talked about commentators, fans, teams, and beyond.
He recently sat down on his podcast and spoke about the differences in physicality between past NBA generations and the current one.
“They played physical, but I just think they got away with a lot of flagrant fouls and I think that’s why they call their era more physical than ours,” Durant said.
KD talked about the physical style of play between eras.

With this statement, Durant sounds a lot like many fans over the last few years.
These fans claim that the NBA has gotten softer and has siphoned much of the competition out of the game because it doesn’t allow the same level of physicality.
While Durant is saying that previous generations in the league were able to get away with harder fouls, he doesn’t think they were necessarily more physical.
He thinks that they didn’t get called for the same sort of plays that would result in a flagrant foul today.
The debate about the league getting too soft will rage on for years to come.
What matters most is that players recognize the current state of the NBA and play to the best of their ability within it.
That is exactly what Durant and his Suns are doing.
They have now won their last six games and are positioning themselves for a very strong run in the playoffs.
The blockbuster trade that netted them Durant is starting to pay off for the Suns.
The next few weeks will be very pivotal for the team – and perhaps very physical as well.
