The Minnesota Timberwolves have had no shortage of talent in their ranks over the past seven or eight years.
However, the fit and the focus may not always be right.
That’s why Kendrick Perkins believes it’s about time the franchise makes Anthony Edwards its point of emphasis and officially moves on from the Karl-Anthony Towns era.
Perkins cited that Edwards can do it all on both ends of the floor, improving as a defender with every season, and bringing a tenacity to the court every single night.
“I believe that it’s time for the Minnesota Timberwolves to move on from Karl-Anthony Towns… That franchise belongs to Anthony Edwards… KAT has had his time & his opportunity to take over this franchise & he hasn’t.”

He also said that Edwards has proven that he can handle the burden of leading the team offensively, and that it’s just time the team hands him the keys to the offense.
Truth be told, Edwards has shown more character in just a couple of seasons than Towns has in his entire career in the league.
He willed his team into the playoffs and even stole a game from the eventual champions Denver Nuggets, and he looks like a superstar in the making.
Towns has been injury-prone, and most of his numbers have been empty, as they haven’t translated into many wins.
He’s a very good player and he could be a solid second or even third-scoring option on any contending team, and he’s still young enough to grant some decent value in return.
But he’s simply not a good fit next to Rudy Gobert, and he might not be suited to be a go-to guy or franchise player, which is perfectly fine as well.
