The Phoenix Suns are going through some major changes after the team came up short in the NBA playoffs, with Devin Booker and Kevin Durant unable to get the best of the eventual Western Conference champion Denver Nuggets in the second round.
The team’s first order of business in the offseason was doing something that no one saw coming, as they parted ways with head coach Monty Williams, who was one year removed from winning NBA Coach of the Year.
Shortly after parting ways with Williams, the team found his successor in former Los Angeles Lakers head coach Frank Vogel, and now they’re onto their next order of business, which is addressing the roster.
The team seems ready to waive veteran point guard Chris Paul and may be looking to make a run at free-agent-to-be James Harden.
Harden is said to be torn about his offseason plans, but Phoenix could be a possibility, and ESPN’s Kendrick Perkins thinks that’s a bad idea because he’s a me-first player.
.@kendrickperkins on if James Harden would make the Suns a title favorite:
"If I'm the Suns, I don't even entertain bringing James Harden in on this roster with Devin Booker and Kevin Durant. … You can't trust him. … He always wants things his way." pic.twitter.com/9nVD4hVGJM

Perkins isn’t wrong, as Harden has always done things his way, and when that doesn’t work out, he forces his way out of town, which he’s done repeatedly.
Harden forced the Houston Rockets to trade him to the Brooklyn Nets, and when things didn’t work out with Kyrie Irving not playing, he was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers, which may also be shortlived as he’s interested in returning to a comfortable situation in Texas.
At this point in his career, many would assume he’s made enough money and wants to focus on winning, but it seems to be the opposite for Harden, which should be a massive red flag for the Suns.
