Last season, superstar forward LeBron James passed legendary Los Angeles Lakers center Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the NBA’s all-time leading scorer, which is a feat that might not be done again for quite some time.
With James setting the bar high and continuing to add to his career point total with no end in sight for the four-time NBA champion, there’s no telling how many points will need to be scored to become the league’s leading scorer once he decides to call it a career.
Even though James has the distinction as the league’s all-time leading scorer, many aren’t sold that he is the best scorer we’ve seen in league history, as he’s more of a distributor despite the points he’s put up over the course of two decades.
In fact, former NBA player Kendrick Perkins believes that Kevin Durant of the Phoenix Suns is the greatest scorer of all time, which is yet another interesting and bold take from the former player turned NBA analyst via NBA on ESPN.

Clearly, Perkins has nothing but respect for Durant, as the veteran forward left a lasting impression on him during their time together on the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Now Durant is on the cusp of passing Moses Malone on the NBA’s all-time scoring list, which would put him at No. 10 on the list, with James being the player he’s chasing.
James is the only active player in the top 10, with Durant needing to get ahead of legends like Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Karl Malone, and Jabbar before getting to No. 2.
