The Los Angeles Lakers have made a lot of noise during the NBA offseason, with the storied franchise making all the right moves this summer to keep their team relatively intact while also bringing in some talented players to address areas of concern on the roster.
One of the most important moves for the Lakers this summer was securing the future of up-and-coming guard Austin Reaves, who was a restricted free agent.
The Lakers had no intention of letting Reaves go and wanted to avoid letting him walk like they did with Alex Caruso a few years ago.
Fortunately, general manager Rob Pelinka and company were able to do just that, as they inked Austin Reaves to a four-year, $56 million deal, which may have been the best decision of the offseason for the 17-time NBA champions.
With Reaves becoming a household name in Los Angeles while also making an impression during his time with Team USA over the summer, ESPN’s Kendrick Perkins made a bold statement about the Lakers on NBA Today, via LakeShow.
"Austin Reaves and the crew, not LeBron and the crew."

It’s uncertain precisely what Perkins is alluding to here, as it seems to sound like he is insinuating that Reaves is now the star attraction for the Lakers and not LeBron James, who is the team’s undisputed leader.
It seems like another off-the-wall statement from Perkins to get a rise out of people during a time when NBA news has come to a crawl, with only a few weeks left until the start of training camps for every team in the league.
