Along with a lot of movement happening in the NBA over the past few weeks due to free agency and trades being made and requested, ESPN went through a staff overhaul, with the popular sports network firing analysts and TV personalities left and right.
Although quite a few notable names lost their jobs at ESPN, like Jeff Van Gundy, Jalen Rose, and Suzy Kolber, it appears that NBA analyst and former player Kendrick Perkins might be moving up at the network.
According to Front Office Sports, Perkins could get promoted to NBA Countdown, making him Rose’s replacement on the show.

Despite rubbing a lot of fans the wrong with his wild takes on ESPN, the former Boston Celtics center has become a popular figure in his career as an outspoken analyst with off-the-wall takes on all things NBA.
At one point, fans thought Perkins might be the ideal fit on Fox Sports’ show Undisputed, arguing with another outspoken analyst with crazy takes in Skip Bayless on a daily basis.
Ultimately, it appears Perkins is a resounding success in his career after basketball, in which he won a title with the Celtics and played alongside superstars Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, and Ray Allen.
Clearly, the network values former players like Perkins, who are willing to come up with hot takes on a daily basis in order to entertain its viewers.
Only time will tell if Perkins gets bumped up at ESPN to keep his career going with the network or if his destiny in this space is elsewhere.
