It’s been a complicated season for Russell Westbrook of the Denver Nuggets so far.
He has certainly helped out the team, but he has also had bad moments that have received a ton of criticism.
However, he has shown signs of progress recently and some people think he’s going to be a major help for the team all season.
According to Courtside Buzz, via Legion Hoops, Kendrick Perkins said, “Russell Westbrook has been more important to the Nuggets than Jamal Murray this season.”
That is a statement that is sure to create controversy among Nuggets fans.

Westbrook has put up 12.4 points, 4.0 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game.
Things did not start out well for Westbrook, who was only scoring single digits for the first three games and had a few games with abysmal shooting.
But Westbrook’s last two games have been great, scoring 21 points and then 29.
Unsurprisingly, the Nuggets have won three games in a row and Westbrook has been a huge part of that.
Has he finally found his rhythm again and are brighter days ahead for Westbrook?
Meanwhile, Murray is putting up 16.2 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game.
With that being said, there have been complaints about his game and especially his shooting.
Murray is landing 37 percent of his field goals and 30.4 percent of his 3-pointers, which are both career lows.
That is what led to Perkins’ comments comparing the two.
Ideally, Westbrook and Murray would both be playing well, and the fact they’ve had their fair share of struggles is why the Nuggets got off to a rocky start.
The good news is it’s not too late for both of these players to become pivotal parts of the lineup.
They can be equally as important and impactful for Denver as the season goes on.
