The Los Angeles Clippers faced a huge blow on Thursday afternoon when it was announced that Kawhi Leonard is out indefinitely due to continued problems with his right knee.
Leonard’s absence has gone on for so long that it’s raised many questions about his future.
Speaking on ESPN, via NBACentral, Kendrick Perkins said Leonard “should consider retiring” because of his knee problems.
He said that there is only so much surgery can do and if it’s not helping after all this time, it may be necessary for Leonard to hang up his jersey for good.

It’s been years since Leonard has played a full season for the Clippers.
Last year, he played in 68 games, which is a step up from the 52 he had in 2022-23 but still far from what the team wants.
Leonard’s injury problems continue to flare up, particularly when his team needs him most.
He has only participated in four postseason games over the last two seasons and hasn’t played in more than ten since the 2020-21 season.
Many fans were concerned about Leonard when he had to step away from Team USA before the Paris Olympics in the summer.
They feared that was a sign of things to come and they were correct.
Now the Clippers don’t know when Leonard will be back and there is a chance his return date continues to get pushed back.
Is it possible that Leonard will hear Perkins’ advice and retire?
That seems unlikely right now but perhaps he is also tired of all these injuries just like his fans.
