The Philadelphia Phillies are known to have one of the most passionate and energetic fanbases in all of baseball.
Their fans bring energy and excitement to every game and aren’t afraid to show their passion.
Recently, Phillies fans gave Trea Turner, who has been struggling in his first year with the team, a standing ovation after he had made a costly error a few days prior.
It was the ultimate act of kindness by a normally energetic and raucous fanbase.
On “Fair Territory” this week, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic made a hilarious jab at Phillies fans for not showing their true colors in recent days.

During the “Dork of the Week” segment, Rosenthal recalled a moment from the early portion of his career when Phillies legend and third baseman Mike Schmidt had referred to Phillies fans as a “mob scene” and “uncontrollable beyond help.”
Out of fear of what Phillies fans might think of him, Schmidt wore a shoulder-length wig to disguise himself when he took the field.
Rosenthal jokingly stated that what Phillies fans had done recently was a far cry from what they used to do, and he named Phillies fans the “Dorks of the Week” to poke a little fun at a very passionate fanbase.
It is certainly a departure from what Schmidt described while he was playing, and Turner certainly didn’t have to worry about wearing a wig to disguise himself.
Schmidt on the other hand, didn’t have that luxury.
