Last night, the winners of the Cy Young Award in both the National League and American League were announced.
In the National League, Miami Marlins ace Sandy Alcantara was given the award, while in the American League, Justin Verlander earned the award.
Verlander had the best ERA of any starter in baseball during the regular season, posting a 1.75 mark in 28 starts with an 18-4 record.
The Houston Astros ace came back strong in 2022 after having missed the entire 2021 season and most of the 2020 season recovering from Tommy John surgery.
But with his third Cy Young Award, Verlander has made some history that may prove to be untouchable.
The 39-year-old has won three Cy Youngs, an MVP Award, two World Series rings, and a Rookie of the Year Award.

Verlander Owns Unprecedented History
There may never be another pitcher like Verlander in terms of what he has accomplished.
Verlander came up with the Detroit Tigers in 2005 and emerged as a frontline starter the next year, winning Rookie of the Year honors.
In 2011, he earned MVP and Cy Young honors in the American League.
After being traded to the Astros in 2017, Verlander won his first World Series ring and picked up his second Cy Young in 2019.
Fast forward to 2022 and he has earned his third Cy Young and second World Series ring.
Now, Verlander is a free agent again and may have possibly pitched his final game in an Astros uniform.
But the accolades he has earned over the course of his career certainly will cement his status as a Hall-of-Famer.
