The NFL season is nearing its midpoint, which is usually the time when the top teams in the league get defined.
Unexpected teams can emerge in the second half of the year, but it’s usually clear who the best teams are.
There are several strong teams in the NFC this year, including surprising records from the Minnesota Vikings and the Washington Commanders.
Both of those teams are viewed positively, but they aren’t necessarily seen as front-runners to represent the conference in the Super Bowl.
That distinction belongs to the Detroit Lions, so said Joy Taylor in a recent segment of “Speak” on FS1.
According to Taylor, “I think the Lions are head and shoulders above the rest of the NFC right now.”

The Lions are on a roll, only losing one game all season.
That loss came at the hands of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 2, but they’ve since bounced back in a big way.
Dan Campbell continues to be lauded for what he’s doing with this team, particularly on offense.
They’ve scored at least 30 points in their last four games, which includes a 52-point outing against the Tennessee Titans.
The Lions aren’t messing around this year, and they’re prepared to put the pedal to the metal when necessary this season.
Jared Goff is a frontrunner for league MVP, helping facilitate this high-octane offense.
Their defense still has some question marks, but it’ll be tough to stop the Lions if they keep scoring 30+ points per game, especially against good defenses.
