Cleveland Guardians star Jose Ramirez is known for contributing in all facets of the game: he hits for a high batting average, he has power and speed, and he cannot only field his position adequately, but also has a good arm.
He is also very popular among Cleveland fans.
That’s not all: he is also very involved in community work.
All things considered, he has everything to be considered a local legend in Cleveland, and he is.
It’s because of his involvement in his surroundings that he has received a nomination for a prestigious award.
“José Ramírez is our 2023 nominee for @MLB‘s Roberto Clemente Award, his first nomination. The award is given to an MLB player who best represents the game of baseball through extraordinary character, community involvement, and more,” the Guardians announced via Twitter.

If there is someone on the Guardians roster that represents the game of baseball through character and interest in helping the community, it’s Ramirez.
He recently had a field named after him as a way to honor his contributions to helping the kids achieve their dreams.
Kids in the Dominican Republic (his native country) and in Cleveland look up to J-Ram and would love to, one day, achieve half as much as he has accomplished in baseball.
He has said that Cleveland has given him a lot, and that he just feels happy to reciprocate.
He is now nominated for one of the most meaningful awards in baseball, one that has the name of a Latino legend and fellow baseball star: Roberto Clemente.
