Jordan Walker, the top prospect in the St. Louis Cardinals organization, is certainly a player worth watching this spring.
The team has several position battles taking place and multiple roster spots up for grabs.
Walker is currently fighting for a spot on the Opening Day roster and could potentially find himself in the mix for the designated hitter role with Juan Yepez and Nolan Gorman.
Friday, the Cardinals are giving him an opportunity to showcase his abilities.
On Twitter, Katie Woo of The Athletic posted a picture of the Cardinals lineup card, which shows the young slugger at the top of the order for their game against the Miami Marlins.

With players such as Tyler O’Neill, Paul Goldschmidt, Lars Nootbaar, Tommy Edman, and Nolan Arenado departing for the World Baseball Classic, Walker is likely to receive several chances this spring.
This is good news for the Cardinals, as it gives them a chance to see what Walker is made of and if he truly is ready for the big leagues.
Based on his recent success, there’s a strong argument to be made that Walker is more than ready for the majors.
On Sunday, the slugger hit a three-run home run off of Miami Marlins starter Johnny Cueto, which helped guide St. Louis to an 8-2 win.
Clearly, the Cardinals are excited about what they’ve seen from Walker so far, so much so that they put him in the leadoff spot for Friday afternoon’s game.
Walker will have plenty of opportunities to show if he’s ready to make his MLB debut.
